Choosing a size
Over a dining table, allow a shade about a third the width of the table. The wide double-tier over a long table reads as generous; the same shade in a corridor will feel like it is falling on you.
In a bedroom or above a bedside, a wide shade becomes heavy. The smaller bell and sphere shades are the right scale there.
